Friends of Unity May 2021 Flora & Fauna

Hey there!!
Welcome back to Robyn's Nest!!
Thanks for stopping by and hopping with us this month!
It's MAY already??? Whoa!
Flora & Fauna!!
I had fun with this kit of the month

I combined two sets for this super fast and simple card
Kit of the Month February 2018 and Slowly Turning Classic
I stamped the image on kraft cardstock and cut it with the mini slimline nesting dies from Kat Scrappiness
Layered it on an old scrap piece of SU DSP and tied some black twine around the kraft layer before adhering it to the black DSP
and that's it!! I hope you've had fun and gathered some inspiration this month!

I am using a Freebie by Trinity from our hop back in 2019..
.link below

For this card, I printed out the image and sized it to fit my card.
Then, all I had to do was a bit of coloring on the cups..I used my white Posca Marker pen (a new to me discovery) ...The heart paper is from Doodlebugs
I tied some thin jute from PTI around it, then cut a little tag with the same paper!

Brown Gift Card Holder

For this card, I watched a Youtube video by Ashley Hughes
YouTube Video
For This shape card I used Trinity Stamps Summertime Sips die
The bottom lifts up to the sentiment inside. It could also hold a gift card, too...
The bow keeps this one closed, but slides off like a belly band.

Blue Faux Shaker Crad

I used a dotted stencil and some paste.
Then again with the Summertime Sips die
I added clear card stock over the top for a faux shaker look. I absolutely love this die set. I love the domed lid and the straw. So many options

Shocker!!

 Another card with Summertime Sips

This time I use some yellows and greens. I did do some color blending with 2 Oxides and Trinity's amazing blending brushes!!

Did I mention the flowers are from Pink & Main?

I hope you're having fun Hopping with us!

Be sure to leave comments along the way to be entered for the $25 gift code!!

I love how fast this mini slimline card came together
I first printed the image and sentiment together~
as you can see, I just made it with the scalloped die (from Trinity Stamps)
Then I added some color to the cup with a few Copic markers.
What you cannot see very well (because I covered it up) is the pretty shinny paper under the top layer. So I cut out the presents from the paper and added them to the right side of the card front.
AND, that was it.
It was fun and easy

Please email me at
robyn6420@aol.com
Subject~ FOU Winner
I'll need your mailing address, please
Carla, I have yours 😍
Isn't this the cutest???!!

For this sweet card, I used the bird from the Kit of the Month April 2017 ~ "be my bird"
I stamped him with Memento black and colored him with a few Copics in a flicking motion to resemble feathers...I'm ok with how he turned out, but, it could have been better..then I fussy cut the entire image. (Yes, it took a good while to do 💪)
I used pop dots to adhere him to this piece of card stock I had already cut out (Sizzix dies I think)
The sentiment is from ______ I have no idea which kit I grabbed it from...but, when I figure it out, I will jump back here and add that info for you...sorry, but I do this A LOT!!
I have a bowl of stamps that need to go back into their kit.
I have started writing on the backing of that stamp, which kit I got it from...
This card is a 4 1/4 X 4 1/4. A good size for this guy I think.

Next up is a little fun!!!

I stamped the flamingo from the Kit of the Month July 2013~"stand tall"~ in Tim Holtz's newest color
Kitsch flamingo, and picked raspberry..., then used clear embossing powder!!
SO cute!!
The frame is from Impression Obsession, and the flowers are from Prima.
I love using Gina Marie enamel dots, and scatter them on my cards, and I think they are still around $3.00 a sheet. 💖

OK, then...that's it from me this month!!
Thanks for getting all the way to the end!!!

Friends of Unity~ March 2021

Ok onto this hop!!
We have a sketch challenge this month!!
Here's how I was inspired.....

I stamped out the image a few weeks ago from the January KOM from 2020
and decided to use her today for this sketch...
I colored her with a few Copic Markers
BG 10-11-13
Y-000 for her eyes and glasses
E 21-37-18 for her hair in strokes, then I went over the entire thing with the Y00
I zoomed in a little..I used a white gel pen to highlight the top

I got out my gold thread from Stampin' Up and tied a bow around her finger where the stamped line is (it looks cute in person)
From the kit In God's Sight, I chose the line of hearts.
I stamped them on vellum and heat embossed them with gold.
I fussy cut them out, then I wanted them to hang loosely.
So I got to thinking, I have this punch that pokes 2 holes. I can thread more of that gold thread through it
I like how it turned out. I added some gold shimmer hearts here and there.
I decided that she was thinking about her man with her head in the clouds...do you like that??
I added a gold cloud in back to tie them together..
I chose to use this shiny gold paper because of the tiny gold dots in this amazing paper from Lawn Fawn.
For my next card, I chose this sweet little cup.
I just love the heart steam!!
A tiny bit of coloring went into this card.

If you have any questions, please ask.
I don't want to get too wordy. 😉

I hope you like my play on this months cue/sketch

Friends of Unity~ Febuary 2021

Hey there!! Welcome to Robyn's Nest!! I hope you are doing well!
This months cue is Paper Piecing!! YAY!!
I absolutely LoveLOVE paper piecing!
I know it's not for everyone, but I don't mind fussy cutting most things, so to me, it's no big deal. Plus, I love the result + + right?

For this card, I busted out my Kit of the Month from May 2019 called
I made a mini slimline card...actually, I've made 2 for this hop, but the other one is below..
A mini slimline card...This! This is THE (in my humble opinion) perfect size for most Angie's girls! I cannot believe how nice they have turned out for me. I bought the mini slimline die from Trinity Stamps last year. It was only a scalloped card front. But since then, the have set, with the envelope builder die too for one price. I believe you can still buy the scalloped one pictured above at Simon Says Stamp, last I checked
I'll link you to Trinity below
Mini Slimline Card and Envelope Die Set

I really love how this card turned out. I bowed out the sentiment after embossing it with black.
I colored her up with a few Copic markers
Putty is my newest favorite Copic color to use. That's what I colored her skirt with
I used C-3 on her shirt...which is apparently drying out (See how smudged her shirt looks? That's because the tip was dry and I used it anyway (I liked it ;) Ha! I went out of lines here and there~that pesky, dry tip was hard to control~
I stamped more of the balloons on vellum. I have some that has a swirly pattern on it... then fussy cut them out. Initially, they were for the balloons she's holding, but I didn't like it after I layered it over them, so I set them aside, until found a place to stick them.

My next card is from the same Kit of the Month
You're my kind of Jam!!
I love this!! I am making one of those "You're the Balm" chap-stick things from My Favorite Things, and I'll use that super cute apron shown here. I colored the trim to match. Sending this set to my favorite Aunty in Kissimmee! She collects all things strawberries, so every time I see a new strawberry stamp, or paper I have to buy it! GinaK had a nice paper pack. Not sure if she still sells it :/
But I used this pretty paper from *Queen and Company
I did paper piece the strawberries, too, but it's hard to tell.
I colored my jam a bit too much like the flowers AND the strawberries~ oh well pssst, she won't even care ;)

Next up, and my final card for this month is

Another mini slimline card
I used
*Stampin Up Pool Party colored DSP
*Martha Stewart butterfly punches on pink vellum,
then added a bit of *Stickles to their body.
Yes, I totally forgot to add a center to the flower in her hair, LOL...need to fix that ;)

Well, that' is it for this girl, and I'm the final stop in the hop!
